Igår på båtmässan diskuterade jag med Mustos återförsäljare hur man bäst sköter om sitt seglarställ. Allt för att behålla andningsförmågan och vattentätheten. Enligt honom är det en gammal myt att saltvatten täpper igen porerna i andningsmaterialet. Det skulle innebära att avsköljning i färskvatten efter saltvattensegling inte är lika viktigt som jag tidigare trott.

Vad gäller tvätt och impregnering gav han nedanstående råd.

  • Tvätta stället vid behov. 40-grader för Gore-Tex och Breathable generation 2. 30-grader, handtvätt, för Breathable generation 1. Se tvättråd i plagget.
  • Använd tvättmedel men aldrig sköljmedel.
  • Centrifugera aldrig. Det ger ingenting för ett vattentätt plagg.
  • Tropptorka hängande. Kör det riktigt varmt i torkskåp eller tumlare efteråt. Då ställer sig fibrerna upp och stället är redo för impregnering.
  • Impregnera med spray anpassad för andningsmaterial.
