Idag var jag, Markus och Vickan ute med Carroten i riktiga vårförhållanden. Strålande sol och stabilt skiktad luftmassa. Måns Håkansson skrev om den meteorologiska termen skjuvning i Segling nr 2, 2008. Ute på Askrikefjärden idag rådde ett skolexempel på mycket skjuvning, dvs stabilt skiktad luftmassa. Detta innebär att luften är horisontellt uppdelad i tydliga skikt. Oftast uppstår detta i så kallad varmluftsmassa. Detta är vanligt på våren då vattnet är kallt och luften varmare med höjden. Eftersom varmare luft stiger uppåt ligger den kalla luften nära vattnet stabilt på plats och blandar sig helst inte med övre luftmassor. Detta gör att det kan vara vindstilla vid havsytan medan det blåser några meter upp i riggen. Det är en grymt härlig känsla att susa fram i tre knop på spegelblankt vatten som på bilden. Notera det spegelblanka vattnet i kombination med bogvågen. Molnen i bakgrunden skvallrar även de om den rådande skjuvningen då de är horisontellt breda snarare än vertikalt höga.
